The goal of MIQ - The Reporting and Information Portal for anti-LGBTQIA discrimination in NRW - is to comprehensively document and evaluate the extent of anti-LGBTQIA discrimination in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). We provide structures for affected people or organisations and witnesses to report incidents of anti-LGBTQIA discrimination. These reports are then anonymised and analysed. They help to shed light upon the number of unreported cases of anti-LGBTQIA discrimination. Currently, a large proportion of incidents of anti-LGBTQIA discrimination are not recorded at all. The insights gained from these reports contribute to the development of better measures for supporting affected individuals, and for preventing violence and discrimination.
The project is implemented by self-organised queer networks – by queer people, for queer people. Have you experienced, witnessed or been affected by an incident of anti-LGBTQIA discrimination? Then you can report it here.
MIQ - The Reporting and Information Portal for anti-LGBTQIA discrimination in NRW - is a project resulting from an alliance of queer self-organised groups, who steer the project with regards to its content and focus. The organisation responsible for MIQ is Queeres Netzwerk NRW e.V.
Alongside Queeres Netzwerk NRW, the following organisations are also a part of the alliance: rubicon, Netzwerk Geschlechtliche Vielfalt Trans* NRW e.V. (NGVT* and Lesben und Schwulenverband NRW (LSVD NRW).
All partnership organisations involved in the project are active in the fight for queer emancipation and empowerment, both in terms of content and organisational structures.
MIQ works closely with other reporting and documentation centers in NRW. Together with MEDAR NRW (Reporting and Documentation Center for Anti-Muslim Racism), DINA NRW (Documentation and Information Center for Antiziganism), and MiRa NRW (Reporting and Information Center for Anti-Black, Anti-Asian, and Other Forms of Racism in NRW), we form the NRW Reporting Centers Network.
Together, we have developed documentation and evaluation standards that allow violence and discrimination to be analyzed from an intersectional perspective.
In addition, we collaborate with the Reporting Center for Antisemitism in NRW and the Reporting Center for Discrimination in Football in NRW.
